3rd Year Blogiversarry!

3 years ago today here, I started blogging. Wow. What a journey! What does a girl do to celebrate? I've finished a mini quilt that I have had pinned to my noticeboard for awhile. It was a trial run for these dolls quilts. By mini, I mean a real mini! It measures just under 5 x 6.5 inches, like the size of a postcard.

If you would like to be in the running, just leave a comment, it's that simple. :) I'll draw a winner on Friday.

Mini Quilt Monday.... A Cushion?

This is not really a mini quilt, it is a cushion, but you wouldn't really know that unless I told you, would you? And it is no longer a cushion now, I am converting it to be a mini wall quilt! I'm dragging it out for Mini Quilt Monday.

I sewed it ages ago, before I started blogging, so at least 4 years ago. If I remember correctly from a pattern from Australian Patchwork and Stitching. It was in pretty pastel florals I do remember that and I jazzed it up with funky brights of course! All the blanket stitch was done by hand and it was my first attempt at prairie points.... We have too many cushions on our couches, a mix of handmade by me and store brought ones. I have decided to unpick the poor rough stippling I did on this one and put some wadding inside and stipple it again and hang it on the wall.

There is still time to enter my Ugly Fabric Giveaway as part of the Sewn launch. Good luck!

Mini Quilt Monday.

There is a little group on flickr called Mini Quilt Monday. So this would be the perfect time to share this mini quilt that I finished last night. It is a real, real, real mini, measuring just under 5.5 by 6.5 inches, almost a postcard really. I did the flower back in January here, it has been pinned up on the noticeboard ever since waiting to be sewn into something. It's actually going to go in the mail this week, to a lovely lady who stepped in and made an Angel Quilt for the recent flickr dolls quilt swap I was helping host. I don't think she reads my blog so I am safe to say that! Just a little thank you for her kindness to another swapee.

This is why I love binding! What a mess! I sewed three strips of wadding scraps together for this mini, doing my bit of recycling for the week. Bits of wadding, backing, strips everywhere, it's nice to cut it all down to size and then sew the binding on. Sort of like wrapping a parcel.
