2012 is the year of the table runner in my house and I am starting the Christmas presents extra early this year! I recieved for Christmas just gone, a set of Christmassy themed charm squares from my sister and so what better to sew a table runner from them? On the weekend I was surfing the net looking for inspiration for a quilt I may be designing for a friend ( I say may cause I haven't said yes yet. When does one take the leap from sewing to give away and sewing for a commission??). Anyway, I came across this tutorial here for Charmed Whirlygig's which got me reaching for my stash of white tone on tone and cutting up squares. It all came together very quickly.
I only used 36 charm squares, I have enough left to make another. So here we are ready to sandwich on the weekend and do a quick stipple, bind and then next!

Lookin' good!
Love it.
What a fantastic feeling to complete Christmas gifts 10 months in advance!! Just don't forget about them! I think taking the leap to commission is all about sewing for an appreciative customer who will pay you fairly for your time and skills. Otherwise, it just feels like you've been taken advantage of....and IMHO giving away actually feels better than that.
It's gorgeous! You are so organised you're putting the rest of us to shame... :)
One of my fave prints, teamed with the whirlygig = winner. I think I gave mum some too?
What a great pattern! Will have to look closer into that. I have a few lovely charmpacks lying around! I love what you've done with your fabric, too.
I like it! But I'd watch out for commission work...for the very reasons Poppyprint stated...Good luck! I used to have a quote that said something like...the quickest way to ruin a hobby is to tried to get paid for it! LOL
