WIP Wednesday - Week 20 - My first log cabin block!

Wow! My first ever log cabin!! Few strips there from my recent swap, few strips from my recent craft fair stash! I must say I am quite impressed and have now thrown out all my plans of designing a quilt for Grace's single bed with that yummy new fabric I got on Sunday and am now thinking I'll do 8 of these log cabin blocks! They are quite big, about 17 inches square.

Am finding my quilting "style" is going down a path I didn't really expect if my last few projects are anything to go by. Pinwheels?? Now log cabins??! What will be next??!

What a fantastic block - full of colour and zing! Love what I've seen on your blog so far (just found you through the SCQ ring). Great choice of backing for the pinwheels too - I would always avoid a very light colour binding on a quilt to be used as it will show the dirt terribly. Will check back to see how the log cabin progresses :)

Love your log cabin block! I think it's my all-time favorite block - so basic and so much potential!

I love it! The colors are so great and you've done a superb job of piecing. ;o)

BTW, Hugo's Hanger is darling. My almost 16yo who hates any kind of fabric-related stuff said it was so cute. Big praise there, my friend.

Love your log cabin block. As for directions -- they come and go. I'm not usually a "traditional" block type person, but sometimes they are what calls to you -- and you can make them more "you" with fabric selections. The ones you chose for the log cabin just sing! 8 of those in a quilt would be fantastic.
