Blogtoberfest Day 21 - Mangoes...

You know how students used to take their teachers an apple to school? Well guess what one of Daz's students brings instead? A mango! We live in a town where the shady tree's outside the post office are mango tree's. A town where we have a mango tree in our back yard which is the biggest tree on the block! Doesn't help that all the ripe mangoes are like 15 meters up and we have to borrow some special mango pickers to get them down! Mangoes are the new apples for us this summer and all I have to say about that is mmmmmmmmmm!

Nothing beats mango juice dripping down your chin and through your fingers. I am so envious! We are paying $2 a mango while you can just pick them off the tree. Make the most of it and enjoy the mango season!!

MMMMM, I love mangoes! I grew up in Florida, where they grow everywhere - kids used to sell them on the corner like kids everywhere else used to have lemonade stands! Fortunately, our grocery store thinks that when they get red and sticky on the outside, they've gone over "to the dark side" and that's when they sell them cheap - not knowing that's when they taste best!

Try putting them in homemade ice cream.... ;-)

So jealous!!! I LOVE mangoes. We're in the midst of a bumper apple crop here this year. Made yummy apple crumble for dessert last night.
