I thought using charm squares would be so easy! Just sew them together! Hmmmm, anything but! I am finding it difficult to come across a pleasing layout, this was supposed to be a quick whip it up quilt, 4 days later I am still messing around with layouts.....
This was my first one, based on the pattern mentioned in the last post. Although its Daz's pick, something about it wasn't quite right...
So I rearrarnged some more, but still thought nope! And so tried some pinwheels...
But I have done pinwheels already this year, doesn't quite work either. So rearranged some more...
Interesting this one! Purple is too strong though. So I left it for a few days and have just stuck this layout below up on the design wall.
I have enough to make another 4 blocks. So could be a posibility. Then when I showed Daz the photo's this was the one he liked the least! Arrgggg!!! I don't actually mind it, bit of rearranging and could be a winner. The only other idea I have is after posting all these photos, the first one, the original idea is growing on me again. Maybe try it with the triangles being the same print, I matched them with prints the same colour value, but seeing as though I have 2 of each triangle, that might work.... back to the design wall!
And then just cause Grace wanted to get in the shot.

The top one is my fave. The one with Grace in it I have seen before but with 2 different fabrics making up the centre square, so 2 of each similar coloured triangle. Have you tried that version?
I have to say, I like the pinwheels - but as I know nothing about quilting my comment is not worth much!!! Hope you find a design you like. Miss Grace is gorgeous.
The top one is my fav too! Love the photo of Grace
I love the top one the best and the last one second. I love the fabrics!
Just to confuse you more, I like the second layout best! If you were going to do the last one, I nreckon go with AJ's suggestion for the centre squares to spark a bit more life into it. The first is pretty cool too - love the colours!
I like the last one best :-)
My vote goes to layout 2!
I really like the last one... Esp if you can add 4 more!
I was told on the weekend to get a couple of charm packs for an easy quilt but your post doesn't seem this way.
My vote would be for the 2nd pic or pinwheels but I see you have made it this year so number 2.
We'll be back to check in with you again.
I like the random simplicity of the first layout shown :)
I'm loving the zig-zag/lightning bolt layout. The last one is good too -- I've used it myself, have you tried it by doing random colors to make the diamond pattern?
