DQS#11 - Top Finished!

I have sewn all the blocks together for the DQS#11. I'm pleased with it. I am going to quilt it simply, around the outer of each block and inside the larger petal in the four bigger blocks. I think that will be enough.

I'm a bit stuck how to sew the hanger in the binding though. From the start I always imagined it would be displayed on point as in the photo at the start of the post. But now I am thinking, how can I sew a pocket in for it to hang that way? It would have to be pinned on the wall. So do I go no hanger or sew one on the side like normal so it hangs like the above photo, which doesn't look that bad I suppose. Any thoughts dear blog reader?

That's gorgeous! Hanging possibility: Two hanging sleeves going down the sides from the top that narrow wood dowels could slip into for stability, then put a small circle loop at the top to use for hanging. Does that make sense?

Anyway, LOVE the quilt. Great design and fantastic fabric choices!

Helen, it's so, so pretty! Lovely job on those pointy points.

Terrie's idea sounds like good a good one.

Absolutely beautiful!! Another idea rather than the two sleeves on the sides would be to put a sleeve across the centre, point to point, to hold a flat piece of wood.

Looks stunning. I love the pop of the polka dots with the solids. Really makes is a special quilt!

Absolutely love it! Very charming.

Well, it's a doll quilt, not a wall hanging, so no hanging? Another option, add large triangles to set the quiltlet on point? But that would increase the size too much? De-construct to set the blocks on point?

Looking forward to seeing what you decide.

It's fantastic Helen. I can't think of any more ideas than the great ones already put forward. Whatever you choose it will look great hanging on the wall. xo

Helen, it looks great on the wall, but I know from experience that they hang wonky over time when pinned up on bias. Sell it as a great table topper instead! Also, oh, please...don't pass on the opportunity to have quilting show. DO quilt in the white to give the quilt nice stability. Plus, this is the area where the quilting will show best! Looks great!

Absoutely Love It! Rather than a pocket all the way across the middle, just a triangle 'pocket' at each corner to tuck the ends of a dowel in horizontally. Then hang from the top point. Can you picture what I'm saying? Can anyone else describe it better?

I agree with Pam. It's just like a kite, 4 triangles in the corners and then two dowels to hold it straight.

Add large triangles to set the whole thing on point but be square if that makes sense to you......such a beautiful little quilt....

It's so gorgeous en pointe, I wouldn't want to hang it the other way!

I've seen several quilts made with that block, but always thought 'blah, too much empty space between the blocks'.
But your clever mini-tulips really make the difference.
It is lovely.

How about sew the sleeve across the middle ( the widest part) put in dowel rod as normal and then.... also put a very tiny loop at the top which can be hidden behind and slip over a very small nail.
I love the quilt it is sooo beautiful!
