Getting Old.

Meet my new best friend when it comes to quilting. My new glasses. My new reading glasses. My new computer usage glasses. My glasses that when I wear everything becomes super crystal clear. I found out when I was 16 that I needed to wear glasses. I went for my drivers license only to fail the eye test because I couldn't read the eye chart! So I then realized that it was not normal to see a bury black board and I was short sighted. I have worn glasses to drive and watch tv ever since. My job last year changed a bit and I now find I am on the computer for a large portion of the day, after a few months of me looking over or under my current glasses I went and got my eyes retested and sure enough the optometrist recommended some reading glasses. He actually recommended bifocals but I don't think I am ready for that, So I have been wearing these while reading and every time I put them on I'm like WOW! I have started quilting this blue squares quilt and my new best friend is making it a breeze.

Boy, do I remember that day! Consider the progressive bifocals, and a pair (or several, some great sales on these) of reading glasses. Once you give up and go all in, life becomes much easier. If you watch for sales, you can get two or more pairs of reading glasses for $79 to $99. Then you can have one pair upstairs, one pair downstairs, and one in your purse. My only real problem is purse size as I need both reading glasses, and progressive bifocal sunglasses glasses in there. That's the crazy expensive pair, but since I read and sew outdoors a great deal, they were unavoidable.

Yup. Join the club. It's bifocals for me. Reading glasses on the bottom and clear on the top, cuz taking them off and on drove me batty and I was always losing them or forgetting them. Now, I feel naked without them. Think of it as a sign of maturity.

Bifocals aren't that bad - they don't look like bifocals any more (no lines) and you can see all the time!

I switched to progressive bifocals at the beginning of last year and it's been great. Suddenly so much easier to see the hand piecing.
